I’ve been to Africa twice, and cannot wait to make my third trip.
I was once asked if somebody could only take one international trip in their entire life, where would you tell them to go. Without a moment’s hesitation, I’d tell them to go on a safari in Africa. You will not be simply knocked out of your comfort zone – you’ll be shot out of a cannon.
Whether you opt for Zambia (my personal favorite), South Africa, Kenya or any of the other excellent destinations Africa affords, you need to make thoughtful preparations. This list will get you started.
- Sun Screen
- Hat (I recommend checking outdoor living stores for camping/fishing hats)
- Insect repellent
- Neutral colored clothing (brown, tan, khaki, beige)
- Cargo pants (2-3)
- Shirts (2-3, mid to long sleeves)
- Underwear
- Sun glasses
- Backpack
- Walking shoes (don’t skimp on quality here)
- Toiletries
- Good camera or phone (keep them firmly in your possession at all times)
- Medications
I’ll be writing more about African travel in upcoming posts. Don’t be afraid about visiting this fascinating place. It will forever change you. It certainly changed me.
